Recent legislation changes, according to Senate Bill 1801 – Section 11.43 of the Property Tax Code, now requires Appraisal Districts to conduct periodic audits of all Homestead Exemptions issued under Section 11.13.

Our office is currently conducting the required audit on 20% of the county’s accounts with Residence Homestead Exemptions. Should you receive correspondence from our office, please follow the instructions provided in the document and respond by the deadlines provided.
In the event you do not respond to any requests made in conjunction with this audit process, the exemption(s) will be removed from the account.
